Led by Nathan Vonderau and built on 44+ years of experience, NJV brings thoughtful planning, horticultural knowledge, and personal accountability to every project.

Our Story
What started with my dad, Brian Vonderau, began more than 44 years ago. His passion for landscaping guided his education, and in 1982 he graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture. After graduation, he started BLV Enterprises in The Woodlands, when the community was still home to only about 4,000 people.
More than 44 years of experience in The Woodlands and surrounding areas has taught us far more than which plants look good together. We understand the local soil, the weather, the way properties in this area drain, the expectations of the communities we work in, and the challenges that come with building and renovating here. Brian’s horticultural education, combined with decades of hands-on experience, created the foundation for the way we approach every property today.
Over the years, we have also developed trusted relationships with builders, suppliers, trades, and subcontractors. Experience has taught us who can be counted on to meet our standards, communicate well, and follow through, as well as which relationships are not the right fit for our clients.
When my dad passed the torch, I carried that experience and those relationships forward through NJV Enterprises while bringing my own background and perspective to the business. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Foods from Texas State University, and I have always had a passion for cooking and creating. Both have taught me to appreciate quality ingredients, balance, preparation, attention to detail, and how individual elements work together to create something better as a whole.
That same mindset carries into landscaping. A beautiful property is not the result of one great plant, one hardscape feature, or one idea. It comes from understanding how the pieces work together, choosing the right materials for the property, planning carefully, and paying attention to the details throughout the process.
Today, NJV Enterprises combines more than four decades of local landscaping knowledge with a new generation of leadership. We are proud of where the business started, the relationships built along the way, and the opportunity to continue serving homeowners throughout The Woodlands and surrounding communities with the same commitment to quality, integrity, and thoughtful work.

Some landscapers specialize in routine maintenance, weekly mowing, and smaller-scale projects. There is value in that work, but it is not where NJV is focused.
We specialize in more ambitious landscape planning and execution: custom homes, complete property transformations, major renovations, drainage overhauls, landscape lighting, retaining walls, premium hardscaping, and projects where every detail needs to work together.
“We build yachts, not canoes” is our way of describing that difference. We take on a select number of substantial projects so each one receives the planning, communication, coordination, and craftsmanship it deserves.
We are not interested in rushing through the work or applying a surface-level fix. We want to understand the property, create the right plan, bring together the right people, and build something worthy of the home it surrounds.
